Psychosis is a symptom, not a permanent identity. It occurs when a person’s thoughts and perceptions become disrupted, making it difficult to recognize what is real and what isn't. It can be triggered by many factors: extreme stress, trauma, sleep deprivation, medical conditions, substance use, or underlying mental health disorders like Schizophrenia or Bipolar I.

The Two Main Features

  1. Hallucinations: Sensing things that aren't there (hearing voices, seeing things, or feeling sensations on the skin).

  2. Delusions: Strong, fixed beliefs that are not based in reality, even when presented with contradictory evidence.

"Experiencing a break from reality can be one of the most isolating and terrifying experiences a person can go through. At Mindful Wellness Associates, we provide a compassionate, 'soft-landing' approach to psychosis.

We view psychosis through a biological and trauma-informed lens—understanding that the brain is often trying to make sense of overwhelming internal or external data. Our goal is to help you ground your nervous system, stabilize your perceptions, and return to the life you love."
